Tamariki Book Festival!

I’m thrilled to announce that the Tamariki Book Festival is back again this year after a 3-year Covid hiatus. This year, we’re running it in conjunction with KidsFest, and once again we’re holding the festival in lovely Tūranga, Christchurch’s central library.

Tamariki Book Festival brings children’s authors and illustrators together in a fun festival atmosphere. Kids of all ages can meet authors; do crafts, games and other fun activities; and discover new books.

We’ve got some fabulous authors and illustrators lined up. We’d love for you to join us:

Saturday 1 July, 11 am – 4 pm
TSB Space, Tūranga
Christchurch

Entrance is free and no registration is required. However, if you register, we’ll send you a reminder so you don’t miss the date.

Upcoming Events!

This Saturday, 24 November, will be a great day for book lovers in Christchurch! Two great events will be running all day. I’ve teamed up with author Jo Carson-Barr, so we’ll both have a presence at each event.

Jo will be meeting readers and selling both our books at the Wham Bam Author Jam, at the Addington Raceway from 10 to 4. Lots of other authors will be there, too, from New Zealand and Australia. It’s a great chance to discover some new authors and books!

I’ll be at the Tamariki Book Festival in Raoura Park from 10 to 3, along with a bunch of other local authors. The Festival includes readings (mine is at 10.20 am), activities for kids (including a scavenger hunt with prizes!), and opportunities for kids of all ages to do a little creative writing of their own. I’ll have live insects for kids to check out, and will talk about how I use science in my creative writing. I’ll also be selling my books and Jo’s.

Explore the Forest Floor

Thursday’s weather forecast is looking perfect for some good indoor Kidsfest activities.

Join me, this lovely metallic green ground beetle, and the Lincoln Envirotown crew for a morning of fun activities exploring the forest floor.

There will be crafts, a log tunnel, live insects (including an insect petting zoo), and lots of other fun stuff.

I’ll also have books for sale, including special pre-release copies of Backyard Bugwatchers!
